Just 2 Cents: Kreayshawn Talks Mitt Romney, Obama And The Drama!

Kreayshawn, former White Girl Mob rapper, turned heads at last year’s MTV VMAs, not because of her nomination for Best New Artist for her song, “Gucci Gucci”, but because of her beef and near altercation with the bawse Rick Ross, in which she referred to him as fake in a freestyle.

This year as she prepares to drop her debut studio release, Somethin’ ‘Bout Kreay, on September 18, she kept it politically correct on the VMAs carpet, as she spoke on the upcoming election and how she feels about Nicki Minaj being Team Romney, her own drama, and Obama.

AllHipHop.com: Obama’s up for re-election do you want to see him win?

Kreayshawn: Yeah, I missed his speech, but I saw Romney’s, so when I saw that, I was like yeah! Go Obama!

AllHipHop.com: What do you think about Nicki Minaj’s show of support for Romney?

Kreayshawn: I think it was supposed to be like a cleaver lyric. I don’t know her, but I don’t know if she’s like 110% serious with that, but I think it was like a metaphor.

AllHipHop.com: Like a publicity stunt?

Kreayshawn: I mean, a metaphor, that’s what it is, ya know?

AllHipHop.com: You think women need to create these kinds of illusions and stunts to try to compete with the men?

Kreayshawn: I think everyone likes drama, and it’s all about the drama.

AllHipHop.com: Well, you like a little drama yourself, don’t you?
Kreayshawn: Yeah, things get dramatic sometimes, and if you can mix that with a rap, it’s like talent and drama mix together.

AllHipHop.com:  You think that drama helps or hurts Hip-Hop?

Kreayshawn: I think it hurts, but it’s what the media does. It’s the damn media’s fault.

Damn the Evil Media. Damn us! Love you regardless, Kreayshawn! Check for Somethin’ ‘Bout Kreay on September 18.

Houston Texans’ Arian Foster Working On Rap Career With Bun B.

(AllHipHop News) Although The Houston Texans’ standout player Arian Foster is currently focused on his NFL career, the running-back is also moonlighting as a Hip-Hop artist.

Foster, who scored two touchdowns in Houston Texans’ 30-10 win over the Miami Dolphins on Sunday (September 7), is working on material with rap legend Bun B.

During an interview with NewsFixNow.com, Bun B. revealed that Arian Foster, who signed a $43 million deal with the Texans in March, is passionately working on his rap career during the off-season.

“It’s not something that he really focuses on during the season cause he wants to make sure the Houston Texans get every dime they paid for out of him,” Bun B. explained. “He’s very focused and very determined to make sure he gets his best effort when the season’s on the line.”

And that’s fine for Bun B., who is a huge fan of the Houston Texans, a team that had their best year in 2011, with a record of 10-6.

“I’m just having a ball right now. The teams looking good I’m excited about what the future holds,” Bun B. said.

Album Review: Lecrae’s “Gravity”

Rating: 8.5 / 10

Lecrae has become one of the more recognizable faces in Hip-Hop for several reasons, including his skill as a rapper and his strong spiritual beliefs (and not always in that order). Being recognized in Christian music for quite some time, Lecrae has slowly but surely begun to garner the attention of others off his skill (because, to be honest, most “Gospel rappers” can’t rap that well). With the talent being undeniable through BET appearances and stellar outputs from his brothers at Reach Records, the eyes of critics are on them now more than ever.

It’s only appropriate that Lecrae releases Gravity, an album with seemingly several meanings (but only one, in hindsight… the weight, or seriousness, of life). Whether it’s based on that hollow feeling that happens when partying (for some), or that stage when it finally ends and the consequences are set in stone, or even just the overwhelming dealings of stress, the album deals with almost all of that in a way that’s more sonically aggressive than his last LP.

That aggressiveness starts early, as he takes a page from his Church Clothes mixtape and drops into his intro (“The Drop”) with a focused energy that instantly matches the vibe of the production. That energy is maintained for the entire album, as Lecrae rotates in and out secular artists and Christian artists seamlessly, including a notable feature with R&B/Soul singer Novel and Big K.R.I.T. on “Walk With Me” and “Mayday”, respectively (with the latter featuring production from DJ Khalil, who’s produced for Drake, Slaughterhouse, Clipse, Eminem, and more). The most impressive thing is how comfortable all of the artists are; Novel does indeed lace his track as proper as ever, while Big K.R.I.T. arguably delivers one of his best, introspective verses since “Red Eye” from his 4Eva N A Day mixtape.

That’s not to say that the rest of the album is weak; that would be misleading. Lecrae’s message rings clear on every song, as he addresses several real issues that most people (if not all) can relate to. From the hollowness that comes from having money and no peace in “Confe$$ions”, to the psychological issues that comes with being in the spotlight in “Free From It All”, to addressing the mind state behind homicide and gang-banging in “Violence” (which is more timely than ever due to the circumstances in Chicago), each song has a clear purpose through lyrics. The production here helps to further the message well, with DJ Official, Heat Academy, The Watchmen, J.R., and Joseph Prielozny behind the boards (among others).

As great as the album is, there are still some missteps that somewhat knock off the vibe, such as the forced “Turn Up” chant at the end of “Lord Have Mercy”, but even that’s nitpicking. Gravity is thoroughly crafted, and is as good as any other release that’s out right now. Lecrae’s made a name for himself through reestablishing God’s name in Hip-Hop, and unless the quality of his music and Reach Records suddenly takes a dip, we’ll be hearing his name for quite some time. He’s consistently improving with his rhymes, and taking all he’s learned into thought when creating albums; as long as that’s happening, the sky is truly the limit for him… no gravity required.

You can purchase the LP on iTunes here.

Happy Wins-Day, my Creatures of Compassion!

Welcome to the day that you realize that “to do” is always better than simply “just saying.” There’s no positive way to say this, but we live in a crazy world… Aworld where the latest technology release is more important than the latest presidential polls… A world where freedom of speech is controlled and big corporations rule the world…. Hip-Hop Rumors: Are Lauryn Hill And Wyclef Jean Still Beefing?

Wyclef Jean and Lauryn Hill have a troubled history with one another, with Wyclef at one point  publicly urging Lauryn Hill to get “mental help.” With the resurgence of Hill’s career and years between their last spat, one would think that the two would have sat down and worked out their differences by now. Unfortunately, it looks like that is not the case.

Both Wyclef and Lauryn Hill were present at the recent funeral for business architect Chris Lighty, but Wyclef admits that the two did not take a moment to greet each other. Check out what he told Montreality in a recent interview:

“At the funeral It was just so many people. I was in the section next to Missy [Elliott], Lyor Cohen…it was so many people that it was hard for everybody to intertwine at once.”

That’s a pretty cryptic answer, but it seems that they are still not on speaking terms. Wyclef also commented on Hill’s recent tax issues. Check out what he below:

“Actually, you know, I ain’t speak to Lauryn. It’s been a minute. I heard about the little drama she got in the news, wishing her better on that. You know? Actually, I was on the phone with Pras earlier. It’s all good. Nothing but love for the Fugees.”

Glad to see that, at the very least, Wyclef and Pras are still on good terms. Pras was also outspoken about Hill’s $1.8 million tax trouble. He spoke to Global Grind about her exuberant bail.

I’m bugging! I can’t believe it! I’m sitting here on a plane to L.A. listening to Phil Collins and Philip Bailey “Easy Lover” on my iPod. But I don’t believe she’ll go to jail, but d*mn bail is 150K?! Zimmerman was about the same. Go figure! … This is crazy!!

I’m still hoping that Wyclef and Lauryn can straighten out their differences. How amazing would a new Fugees album be?

You can check out the full interview with Wyclef below, where he also speaks about his relationship with Chris Lighty.

Hip-Hop Rumors: [Video] Joe Budden Goes In On SlaughterHouse Fans!

Damn Joe. You went and did a Fantasia.

A lot of people are not feeling the new SlaughterHouse CD, from what I have gathered. Now, AllHipHop gave it a cool 8/10, but it seems a lot of fans have a different opinion. Well, somebody asked the crew about it and Joe Budden went in – ON THE FANS. Wow.

Whoa. Blank stare.

I guess they peed in his Wheaties.
Personally, I blame Eminem! And with that, I present his new joint with Pink.

All respect due to Em for putting them on, but the fans know what they are talking about.

CHRIS BROWN?
This isn’t new, but I had to process this. Did Chris Brown really tat a battered woman on his NECK?
